According to a study, conducted in the United States, a healthy grocery shopping will cost an average family of four. Additional $1.500 per year. This includes buying whole wheat bread, instead of white bread. Also, buying lean meat instead of fattier cuts is healthier. The study included 23 families, with children with type 1 diabetes. Their parents had to feed the kids with low-fat diet. 

Susana R. Patton from the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, said that a healthy diet is more important for all people. The lower fat intake is much better alternative. Also, we all know that diabetes increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Because of this, managing the fat intake is crucial for healthy living. 

During the study, researchers went shopping with parents who participate in the study. All of them, had children with type 1 diabetes, under age 7. Researchers made a list of low non-same prices of a typical diet and a list of healthy food. They discovered that an ordinary shopping list cost $324. However, the healthier list cost $380. They also found that certain grocery shops don’t have enough healthy food. Usually small and independent markets had this problem.

If you have a family and you want to live healthy, you need healthy food. If you don’t care about the money, then this isn’t a problem for you. However, if you have a tight budget, you should consider additional options. For example, you can have a garden (if you have a house and a backyard). You should also pay attention on low prices and try to save money, so you can use it for healthy food.
