This includes buying whole wheat bread, instead of white bread. Also, buying lean meat instead of fattier cuts is healthier. The study included 23 families, with children with type 1 diabetes. Their parents had to feed the kids with low-fat diet.
Susana R. Patton from the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, said that a healthy diet is more important for all people. The lower fat intake is much better alternative. During the study, researchers went shopping with parents who participate in the study. All of them, had children with type 1 diabetes, under age 7. Researchers made a list of low non-same prices of a typical diet and a list of healthy food. They discovered that an ordinary shopping list cost $324. However, the healthier list cost $380. They also found that certain grocery shops don’t have enough healthy food. Usually small and independent markets had this problem.
